Cattle Autodrafter
ProWay Livestock Equipment has developed a range of cattle autodrafters that will provide a solution for a wide range of cattle producers.
Our original 3, 5 and 7 way cattle auto draft including weigh crate is designed to suit the larger operator, saleyard or feedlotter, where dedicated weighing and drafting is required and the emphasis is on labour efficiency and through put.
The newer 3, 5 and 7 way autodraft unit that is designed to fit in front of a crush is designed to cater for the medium to large cattle producer who wants to incorporate weighing/autodrafting with husbandry operations. They want the flexibility of using it as an autodrafter or as a remote drafter. This unit is designed to flat pack and is bolted togther on site. It has and 50 x 50 RHS frame and 97mm cattle-rail or RHS rails.
The heavy duty 3, 5 and 7 way autodraft unit that fits in front of a crush is designed for Northern cattle and for feedlots that have an existing weigh station or crush and want to fit an autodraft in front of it. The frame is has heavy channel along the floor, 100nb (115mm) gate posts and is all hot dipped galvanised for long lasting reliable service. 115mm galvanised cattle-rail is used for the rails in gates.
Combined with the load cells and indicator, the gates will draft according to weight range, weight gain and any other criteria concerning weight that you will need.
If an EID reader is used with the indicator then other life data can be used to draft such as breed, sex, age etc automatically. The complexity of the drafting is only limited to the indicators functions.
The operator controls the slide gate on the back of the crush. The beast is weighed or scanned (or both) and according to the parameters being drafted, the indicator will send a pulse to the control box which inturn opens valves to move the draft gates. The head bail (or front gate) is opened manually and the best is free to walk into the allocated pen.
The information from that animal is then stored to file in the indicator. This can be downloaded to a PC to be used for management purposes.3
The draft gates can be overridden by the controller using the indicator. For example, if a stray cow has comes in with steers you can draft her off in any direction without recording so overall figures are correct.
The draft gates can be operated from the indicator and recorded during other processes like preg testing. Pressing the pen numbers (or arrows) will draft her into the right pen. The cow’s identification can be recorded at this time.
The unit comes with head access gates. These can be opened to work on the head of the animal and slammed closed when finished. The sliding gate can be used as a baulk gate when head bailing hard to catch cattle.
There is also an entry level, manual air draft unit that fits in front of a crush. This unit does not have the autodraft option, but provides quick, safe and efficient drafting from the crush.
